White Slave: a novel

By Wayne S Gilbertson

Natalee Holloway

Natalee Ann Holloway (October 21, 1986 – on or after May 30, 2005) was an American student who vanished on a high school graduation trip to Aruba, a Caribbean country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Holloway lived in Mountain Brook, Alabama at the time of her disappearance, and graduated from Mountain Brook High School on May 24, 2005, shortly before the trip. Her disappearance caused a media sensation in the United States.

Holloway was scheduled to fly home later on May 30, but failed to appear for her flight. She was last seen by her classmates outside Carlos'n Charlie's, a Caribbean chain restaurant and nightclub in Oranjestad, in a car with locals Joran van der Sloot and brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. When questioned, the three men said they dropped her off at her hotel and denied knowing what became of Holloway. Upon further investigation by authorities, Van der Sloot was arrested twice on suspicion of involvement in her disappearance and the Kalpoes were each arrested three times. Due to lack of evidence the three men were released without charge each time.

With the help of hundreds of volunteers, Aruban investigators conducted an extensive search for
Holloway. Special Agents from the FBI, fifty Dutch soldiers and three specially equipped Dutch Air Force F-16 aircraft participated in the search. In addition to the ground search, divers examined the ocean floor for evidence of Holloway's body. The searches were unsuccessful; Holloway's body was never found. On December 18, 2007, Aruban prosecutors announced that the case would be closed without any charges sought against the former suspects. The Aruban prosecutor's office reopened the case on February 1, 2008, after receiving video footage of Joran van der Sloot, under the influence of marijuana, making statements that Holloway died on the morning of May 30, 2005, and that he disposed of her body. Van der Sloot later denied that what he said was true, and subsequently gave Greta Van Susteren an interview (the contents of which he later retracted) in which he stated that he sold Holloway into sexual slavery.

Holloway's family criticized Aruban investigators throughout the search for a perceived lack of progress in finding her. The family also called for a boycott of Aruba, which gained Alabama Governor Bob Riley's support but failed to gain widespread backing. On January 12, 2012, an Alabama judge declared her legally dead.

Exposing The Truth About The Natalee Holloway Murder Mystery (2014)

Welcome to my site

My web-site is a promotional site for my book, White Slave, and an educational site about human trafficking. A white slave is defined as: a woman tricked or forced into prostitution, typically one taken to a foreign country for this purpose.

An estimated 800,000 men, women, and children are trafficked across international borders each year. Millions more are trafficked within their own national borders for a variety of purposes, including forced labor, bonded labor, sexual servitude, and involuntary servitude.

The nationalities of trafficking victims are as diverse as the world's cultures. Some leave developing countries, seeking to improve their lives through low-skilled jobs in more prosperous countries. Others fall victim to forced or bonded labor in their own countries. The majority of transnational victims are trafficked into commercial sexual exploitation.

I have profiled the cases of missing women who fit the theme of my book. There are literally thousands of missing women and children across the country. To profile all of them is not possible within the limited scope of this site. In the interest of brevity, I limited my selection to prominent, high profile cases.

White Slave is a work of fiction. All of the characters, place names, incidents, and dialogue in my novel are products of my imagination or are used fictitiously. The missing women listed on the navigation bar are not fictitious characters but are real people, with real families, whose life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness has been destroyed. I have attempted to accurately portray their cases but I am not responsible for errors introduced from my sources.

I will periodically introduce new profiles on this site as new or unique cases come to my attention.

Individuals with information concerning any of the cases profiled on this web-site should take no action themselves, but instead immediately contact the nearest FBI Office or local law enforcement agency. For any possible sighting outside the United States, contact the nearest United States Embassy or Consulate.
